Urban Fibres and the Like

Everyday on my way to work I walk through Kings Cross station. Its fortunes have  echoed those of London, surging from mid-Victorian confidence to the degraded seediness of the latter 20th century. Now of course it is being regenerated; its grandiloquent gothic neighbour St. Pancras the new Eurostar terminal.

This building seems to me a perfect articulation of past and present; an immense Victorian structure, exposed red brick and vast iron girders matched with sleek and shiny high speed trains. In St. Pancras the mundanity of the present has been forgotten between the past and the future.

I think this is true of London as a whole and that is what this microblog is all about.
