The Aerium near Hamburg. This Xanadu style pleasure dome is the third largest building in the world, at 360 metres long, 260 metres wide, and 107 metres tall. How did this one pass me by? One day soon, when global warming and extreme spikes in oil prices revert flying to just a small global elite, we may all take our holidays in such structures. It’s like Butlin’s crossed with a NASA rocket factory crossed with some half formed, clean cut, sanitized 1950s dream of the future.
