» Spezify
Via smcdoyle. Cuil thought it was, er, cool with its spread out search display. Bing thought it was, er, bling for fully incorporating multimedia. (I’ll stop now.) Spezify does both. Ok, so it will no doubt end up as one of the countless innovative and interesting search engines occaisionally billed as Google killers in the more lonely, search-intropsective corners of the web, sometimes even in the mainstream media, but Spezify is fun, good looking and almost relevant all the time.
Where all these search engines will end up is anyone’s guess: bankrupt and broken, or boutique and of charitable/neglible status is mine. However slowly and surely they are pushing boundaries that the big players will have to respond to. Interfaces have begin to shift irrecoverably. Point and click, lists, old layouts, this blog, it’s all going to go. Soon. It’s part of a narrative that incorporates what the iPhone has done to touch, with Project Natal being the next chapter.
Virtual reality goggles and fully gestural navigation - I can’t wait.
