» My Kingdom For A Beer: Outline of a European Superstate
Via azurlune. Extraordinary 1990s map drawn up by Freddy Heineken (of the beer) illustrating how a post-Maastricht European superstate could be comprised of new sub-national states, each formed with a basis in history and geography. So England would divided into such regions as Mercia-Birmingham and London-Essex. Population behemoths include Baden-Wurtemburg-Stuttgartt (9.6 million people), Castilia-Madrid (9.1) and Wallachia-Bucharest (9). Some countries make it in whole (Ireland, Hungary, Portugal) while the Balkans looks very much like its post conflict self. Fascinating.
