» London Skyline
For someone like myself with a well documented obsession with London skyscrapers this is probably the greatest toy ever conceived. Built by Hayes Davidson this tool allows you to play around with the London skyline, allowing you for instance to drop the Burj Dubai in next to the Gherkin, or plonking the Eiffel Tower down in the grounds of Buckingham Palace. It illustrates the majesty and scale of these buildings and allows us to envisage a London of the future, a London that is still leading the world.

» Kickstarter
Startup offering social funding for creative projects. You, the creator, put a target to raise. People then pledge on the site. Only if the target is reached does money change hands. If that happens Kickstarter takes a 5% cut. Interesting website, but how many people are going to pledge on this? The key question is whether it is worth using this for a FAF round, as against just asking them. It might be in terms of ease, comprehensiveness, clarity, goal building and sense of mission though.

Via Mssv. A fascinating breakdown of the BBC’s budget. What annoys me about the cuts are a) it is in response to an as yet non-existent Tory administration slavishly creating their media policy according to the whims and dictates of the long time BBC haters, the Murdochs and b) the BBC is one of the only world class institutions Britain has left, and we (well, the Tories) want to cut it down. We need to preserve what cultural, industrial and creative power we have left and the BBC is central to at least two of those.

Via Angry Robot. A storm trooper laments. We’ve all seen it before, but I couldn’t resist reposting.
